Healthy English

This resource has been developed by East Cheshire NHS Trust to address the language and communication needs of international health and care staff and their colleagues working in the UK.

There is a range of activities and explanations to help you develop appropriate language and communication skills for the health and care context.

BBC Learning English

A comprehensive site with English language resources for beginners through to advanced level.  It includes sections on pronunciation, grammar and vocabulary, as well as Everyday English and Business English.
Pronunciation workshops
74 pronunciation videos to show you how English is actually spoken.
Basic grammar
A series of 6 minute grammar tutorials covering all the basics.
Intermediate grammar
Become a grammar champion with a series of 6 minute tutorials.

Doctors Speak Up

An extensive range of multimedia resources designed for international doctors seeking work in Australia.  It includes specific medical language, and examples of doctor-patient interactions.
Navigate cases and activities
​Use the 'Navigate' menu to search by clinical cases (e.g. alcohol, depression, back pain) or activity (e.g. grammar, vocabulary).
​Calgary Cambridge Guide
​The Calgary-Cambridge guide to the medical interview.  Maximise the doctor-patient interaction and communication process.
